Green house gases come from many sources. For campuses, there are direct and indirect contributions. One of the most direct involves the number of campuses that have addressed the need for reliable electric power by building and operating their own power plants.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has developed a very helpful web tool — the Environmental Virtual Campus — that looks broadly at more effective management of campus environmental management and has as a specific section on the impacts — environmental and energy — of campus power plants. Check it out.
