The New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS) has just selected its new Executive Director, John Cusack, who has written several interesting articles in the most recent edition of the organization’s newsletter, including one on the installation of a large photovoltaic (solar electric) system at Monmouth University. The system, according to Cusack, is 454-kilowatts, will cover 33,000 square feet of roof space, will reduce CO2 emissions by more than 5,000 tons, and will generate at least $2.7 million in energy savings over 25 years. It will reportedly be the largest solar system at any New Jersey campus and will take a year to complete. The project received funding from the state utility board.
