Safeguarding Fish In a Warming World – The Warming Arctic
On Thursday, the Obama Administration approved the Fishery Management Plan for the fish resources of the Arctic. The plan prevents the expansion of commercial fishing into large areas of the sea where the ice has melted due to rising temperatures until more information is available to support sustainable fisheries management. About 150,000 square nautical miles will be closed.
This is one example of the changes we’ll see and the steps we’ll need to take in order to safeguard wildlife in a warming world.
