Sen. Graham: We Need “A Bet On Cleaner Air”

Three key senators — Lindsey Graham, John Kerry & Joe Lieberman — are working to craft a clean energy & climate bill that can make it over the 60 vote hurdle thrown up by obstructionists. Sen. Graham tells New York Times columnist Tom Friedman he remains confident the effort will succeed — and that his Republican colleagues need to get on board:

“We are more dependent on foreign oil today than after 9/11. That is political malpractice, and every member of Congress is responsible.”

And for those Republicans who think this is only a loser, Senator Graham says think again: “What is our view of carbon as a party? Are we the party of carbon pollution forever in unlimited amounts? Pricing carbon is the key to energy independence, and the byproduct is that young people look at you differently.”

Please take a momemt to ask your senators to support strong clean energy& climate legislation in 2010.
