Watch CNN Gulf Telethon Tonight at 8pm ET

Posted by Miles Grant

I could not pick Justin Bieber out of a lineup or name one of his songs. As a 32-year-old man without children, it goes without saying that I am not his target demographic.

However, I am being informed, via the hundreds of news articles & thousands of tweets pouring in, that it is a REALLY BIG DEAL that Justin Bieber will be appearing in tonight’s CNN telethon to aid disaster relief efforts in the Gulf. Apparently Mr. Bieber has quite the following among the young ladies of America (and I suspect among a great many adults who claim indifference yet loudly sing along when his songs come on when they’re alone in the car).

Fortunately, there’s a long list of actors, activists & musicians participating in the telethon who are more familiar to me despite my tragic uncoolness in the eyes of my younger relatives. The list includes Cameron Diaz, Faith Hill, Lenny Kravitz, Alyssa Milano, Aaron Neville, Tim McGraw, Edward James Olmos, Robert Redford and Sting.

The National Wildlife Federation will be among the organizations benefiting from the telethon. Actress & NWF Board Member Gloria Reuben will be representing us on the show along with NWF Naturalist David Mizejewski.

NWF Senior Vice President Jeremy Symons joined CNN this morning to preview the telethon:
