Global Warming Emissions to Rise this Year

You might think that with all of the effort to jump start the clean energy economy and in the midst of an economic slow down that the U.S. would be reining in its carbon emissions. After all, emissions were down last year.

Unfortunately the U.S. government reported today that the nation will increase it’s emissions this year by 3.2 percent. Worse still, it’s largely due to increased use of coal and natural gas to power our electrical grid. Clearly voluntary measures won’t cut the mustard.  We must have comprehensive climate and energy legislation that will put a price on carbon and truly boost clean energy investments in wind and solar, which can power our grid without increasing CO2.
