How can the NWF not speak up against the permitting of wind energy projects which have been shown to be killing both Bald and Golden Eagles (along with many other species) in large numbers, and these companies have no liability! One law for all.

I am disappointed that the National Wildlife Federation supports the use of wind turbines to generate electricity. Recent reports show that wind turbines are devastating to migratory birds and raptors.

I read a recent report that 80 Golden Eagles have been killed by wind turbines in California. When you consider that a pair of Golden Eagles will produce only 1 to 2 offspring a year, you can quickly see the impact that wind turbines will have on the Golden Eagle population in California. When an oil company kills just one Golden Eagle, its a $10,000 fine. The owners of the wind turbines in CA have yet to pay any fine.Wind turbines to be located along the south Texas coast will greatly impact the population of neotropic migrants and shorebirds. Many of these birds are listed as threatened or endangered. Please demand that public surveys and independent studies on the impact of wind turbines on bird and marine life be conducted before any permits are approved.Think not only Green, but Eco-Friendly as well.Bob MetzlerLongview, TX
