I just received a package that I won’t soon forget.

In today’s mail was a letter from Kaeden – a little girl from Libertyville, Illinois who is very upset about how the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has affected wildlife in the region.

She was so concerned that instead of gifts for her 7th birthday party, she asked her friends to make a donation to the National Wildlife Federation.

Moved by her contribution, I immediately sent Kaeden a thank you note for her generosity. What a special little girl she must be.

But, I have one more reason to thank her.

She reminded me of the very reason I came to work today.  Simply put, I want Kaeden to grow up in a world filled with the wonders of wildlife – from sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico to polar bears in the Arctic.

Today’s children deserve nothing less.

(By the way, Kaeden and her friends raised nearly $500.)
