Holiday Ideas for Nature Lovers
With holiday gift giving in full swing, countless posts are talking about ways to help out important causes while spreading holiday cheer. Nonprofitorgs.wordpress.com, Blog.nature.org, and 1800recycling.com all have very thoughtful blog posts that encourage giving gifts that benefit nonprofits doing great work.
In honor of the holiday season, I compiled a few ways you can help the National Wildlife Federation through your gift giving, especially if the person you are looking for is a budding naturalist or animal lover.
For us, the best gift of all is supporters like you!
1) Partake in Holiday Activities Together
We have a TON of activities you can do with your family. They may not be something you get to wrap, but the gift of spending time outside in nature with the people you love is one of our favorite things to give.
2) Adopt an Animal
While I wouldn’t recommend actually bringing home a polar bear in real life, some of our wildlife adoptions could serve as thoughtful and meaningful gifts. Check them out and let us know what you think!
3) Give Kids the Gift of Our Nature Magazines
If the children in your life aren’t yet subscribed to Ranger Rick, Your Big Backyard, Wild Animal Baby or Just for Fun magazine, now’s the perfect chance to give them a gift subscription.
4) Give a Gift Habitat Certification
National Wildlife Federation’s Wildlife Habitat certification is the perfect gift for your favorite gardener. You just need to know how they help provide wildlife with food, water, cover and places to raise young.
5) Buy Books for Wildlife
Borders is running a special deal between Dec. 18-20th where you can donate 15% of your purchase to the National Wildlife Federation. If ordering online, use the special code “NWFD1219H,” or download this coupon at www.nwf.org/borders to take into stores with you.
Check out our catalog if you are looking for other neat gifts that benefit our work with wildlife.
