Two foreign corporations propose building the largest gold and copper mine in North America (ironically named the Pebble Mine) in the headwaters of Bristol Bay, Alaska.

Recognizing that a mine in this fantastic area is likely to spell doom for the world’s largest sockeye salmon fishery and the people, bears, wolves, and other wildlife that rely on it, a number of jewelers have agreed not to purchase Pebble gold. Among those companies are Tiffany & Co., Helzberg Diamonds, Ben Bridge Jewelers, Jostens, and Zale Corporation.

Please thank them for their stand when you give them your business–it’s a big deal when we can reward companies for doing the right thing.
