We used to live in the country when I was a kid and I was allowed to water the garden, but not touch anything. Ha haaa. I still don't have a green thumb, but have learned by setting my auto sprinkler I don't have to worry about over watering my plants.

This triggered fond memories of my "backyard moments" with my grandparents. To this day, I love to hear the sound of the birds singing, watch a butterfly flutter by, and breath in the fresh air! Wonderful piece Kim!!

I too remember gardening in the backyard with my parents! They were always down there watering, weeding, planting, pruning...and then after months of patiently waiting, we had a garden full of beautiful flowers and "organic" produce. My mom taught me the difference between an annual and a perennial, and my father taught be how to eat a delicious snap pea right off the vine! Thanks for bringing back these wonderful memories and making me smile!

Wow, Kim, we have much in common with the gardening and daughters! My own, Megan, has become a fantastic gardener, as well as a canning enthusiast, and soon with retirement, my "secret garden" will finally receive the attention it deserves. Additionally, I am looking into butterfly-friendly plants for So. Cal area as well. Isn't it remarkable that lives that seem to have gone different directions find friendly commonalities once again?

Love the blog! Keep me posted,

Jo Ann
