Our local park is a wonderful way to meet other kids in the neighborhood too. We also visit our local hiking trails on a regular basis. We have one parent walk the kids to school til they get close enough for a pick up of the parent while the kids continue on. Not ideal, but it means a lot to us that they (and at least one of us) start their day with some fresh air!

Being too busy is always the most common reason not to get your kids outdoors. The trick is to sneak in an hour here or there. I suggest geocaching. It is likely you can find a cache in your area. Another tip is to have a packed gear bag in your trunk so you’ll be ready whenever an opportunity pops up.
