What a great story. I’m so happy he lived a natural life. I too am amazed at how well they’ve returned to America. It fills me with joy.

My husband and I also sponsored a wolf with a wolf collar back in the beginning of the restoration. He had “friends” in his pack who promptly chewed it off him! I still have that collar.

I am glad to know he did die as a wolf should not by a gun or by other human means of death. I do love the pic you have showing just how big the big boy was, and to be 9 how wonderful is that?! He will be up in heaven to tell you all about when you took that pic and perhaps to say thank you for giving me that collar, who knows maybe he will be able to tell you a story or two about when you all watched him as he watched you..May God Bless our wolves and those who have decided it’s their calling to be their voice.

What a wonderful gift! I’m a member of the Greater Yellowstone Foundation but I did not know one could do this. I’ll have to check and see if they still offer this. I agree – how great he got to live and go in a natural way instead of by a gun.

This wolf did, indeed, do right by his species, human intervention, and your concern. 9?! #42 (I will always think of her as ‘Cynthi’, right or wrong) also lived to a similar age. The recent allowance of wolf hunting is extremely distressing, given just how little encouragement humans require to lavish cruelty and violence upon them. I hope, as you must, that these practices will cease soon.
