One of our nation’s bedrock environmental safeguards, the Clean Water Act, is 39 years old. This historic legislation was born in 1972 through strong bi-partisan support in Congress, and helped make many of our water bodies safe and clean.

Unfortunately, the Clean Water Act is now under unprecedented attack from pollution, climate change, development and invasive species. The law is also being assaulted by out of touch legislation that ignores the benefits of clean water and healthy wetlands to people and wildlife.

The best birthday present for this vital environmental protection is to keep  the Clean Water Act strong for another 39 years and beyond. Click here to protect wetlands, wildlife and our drinking water.  Clean, healthy rivers, lakes, streams and wetlands are some of the best gifts we can give ourselves and  future generations.

Happy birthday Clean Water Act and many more.
