I’ve been with the KDF almost 13 years and been Smokey several times a year. I’ve seen some heart breaking things with the kids.If you haven’t been Smokey at schools and special events you need to be there before you get delete Smokey.I’d love to tell some of my experences with kids while beening Smokey.

I would like to know, how many Prevention Technicians, Fire Patrols, or Prevention officers he has on his forest? Is there a Fire prevention Education in place? How many school, fair, or other education programs do they have annually? Or did they cut those jobs too?

1126 wildfires this year alone in his state? I can see why he wants to cut Smokey. Seems like the money spent on Smokey isn’t exactly “preventing forest fires.”

Smokey Bear visited my first grade in 1952. The class was agog and I’m sure they, grown up now, have never forgotten. One child had a Smokey Bear doll and went to the other classrooms with his conservation talk. With the help of the State Forest Service, we raised a try of pines and each one went home to be planted in a back yard on Mother’s day. Keep Smokey. He is a national treasure!
