Well a good example of what would likely happen is the BP GUlf oil spill. Companies are supposed to tak extra precautions to prevent leaks/spills but it almost always happens anyways. There numerous endangered species in the Keystone so all of the wildlife would be vastly effected by the drilling even if it didn't leak. There is a huge amount of waste as a result of oil drilling. Also, although it is illegal to dump waste into rivers and streams, it is still common. I do agree though, along with just about everyone else, gas prices are too high, but what are we willing to risk to get gas cheaper?

I love animals and helping them has always been my way of life so I'm writing this in hopes that someone can please explain to me what is wrong with drilling for oil if it's done responsibly? I' tired of the middle east pushing us around, price of gas skyrocketing so much so that now I can hardly afford to donate to all the animal charities for which I belong. Now, the animals are suffering for lack of money to help organizations fight animal cruelty, save habitats and conservation. So, please tell me what I'm suppose to do.? Explain to me why present day drilling is not good when gas is 3.92/gal in my small university town of Gainesville, Fl. If oil companies can save me money on gas so I in turn can save animals then let them get rich. They're going to get that way anyhow with prices of gas so out of control. All I want is an explaination-I can't donate if all my money goes into the tank and thus animals suffer. Thanks, Pat
