Lou, please read these articles on Keystone XL pipeline myths. One is by the Washington Post. The number of jobs TransCanada says the pipeline will create has been grossly exaggerated (and most are temporary). Also, the oil that will be transferred to the gulf coast are destined to go overseas. Texas refineries are serving GLOBAL demand.

I do not support the pipeline because it is not safe (speaking of spillage of the raw tar sands in sensitive areas such as the precious Ogalala Aquifer in Nebraska), and it will set back progress made on addressing global warming issues. Burning one gallon of tar sands oil versus crude oil produces 5-15% more greenhouse gas emissions. Remember, James Hansen, NASA scientist and leading climate specialist, says approving this this pipeline would essentially be "game over" for the environment. Not worth it!
