A mass protest against the Northern Gateway oil pipeline is being planned for the front lawn of the B.C. legislature on Oct. 22.
Greenpeace Canada says it will be the biggest act of civil disobedience on the tarsands issue in Canada.
The
organization says protest leaders will include environmentalists David
Suzuki and Tzepo-rah Berman, former Canadian UN ambassador Stephen Lewis
and Council of Canadians chairwoman Maude Barlow.
Berman says the
risk of oil spills from pipelines and tankers is too great and it's
time to take a stand to defend the B.C. coast.

What people are doing to our earth is pretty much what people are doing to their bodies - destroying it. We have so many similarities with our earth -
- we are both 75% water,
- we both need nutrients and process them in similar ways by chewing (teeth - insects/ mushrooms/ etc.), chemical breakdown (digestive enzymes - microorginisms), absorption (intestines - roots)
- we breath (lungs - vegetation)
- we both have other fluids vital to life (blood - oil....oops, scratch that, we've pretty much drained mother earth of her blood although we are looking for more veins, despite we as blood sucking vampires about to kill our own host.)

How do we get the world to turn this around and reconnect ourselves with our Mother Earth?
