There are some great ideas here but I am beyond disappointed in the sex/gender stereotyping presented. Only boys like Owl poop~ really? A “Barbie” fishing pole~ PLEEASE… stop limiting girls and boys both. I expect much, much better from an organization that professes to care about the whole child, and part of whose misssion is to encourage imaginative play. Nature doesn’t limit boys and girls~ culture does. Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? There is way too much of this limiting type of advice and behavior in the traditional media. I didn’t think I would have to protect the children I care about from your site too!

Love most of the list–but as a elementary science curriculum writer I wish you had said that boys and girls would love owl pellets–because they do. I know later in that sentence you say “kids” will love them–but a quick read might make readers think you’re suggesting they are just for boys. Also, is a “Barbie” fishing rod really necessary–girls can just use regular fishing rods. Please consider changing those two minor problems–everything else is truly wonderful and includes important reminders for parents.
