This is such a great message instead of all of the terrible stuff you hear about happening in our crazy world. All of humanity should rejoice in the fact that there are folks out there who will do this for our furry friends. After all, this is their world as much as it is ours.

The home of the original group i WY was also the range of my favorite literary grizzly bear, Whab, written by Ernest Thompson Seton in the early 1900's. All my life I have been closely involved with hunting and conservation organizations, and sincerely wish the best for these little guys. Hopefully they will have level headed and dedicated professionals overseeing the efforts, unlike the emotional mismanagement that has characterized the wold reintroduction programs, leading to over population with rapid depletion of elk, moose and other species. .

Ferrets aren't weasels.....they are a in the family of weasels, but distantly related. They are cousins of polecats and more closely related to them. They also are mistaken as a rodent, which they are NOT. They are a muskalid (not sure on spelling), not rodent. Very sad story, and sorry you had to witness such a horrible thing!! Thanks for sharing!!

I think this is totally awesome!! I am a ferret lover and owner and believe that this is a great thing to do to save this species!! People need to realize that they benefit us in the wild because they eat mice, rats, prairie dogs etc and all of these rodents are a pain!! I am behind this 200%! Keep up the good work!!

Ferrets were once used in the UK for rabbit hunting: especially during the second WW. The ferret was trainned to go down a rabbit barrow to drive it/rabbits upwards into nets. I don't know what specie of ferret but the men always had rabbit meat for local markets. Sometimes the ferret got away into the woods. I was a youngster of fourteen seeing this when walking in woods in Sussex.
Probably not a black-footed ferret but a domestic one.
