Read about our efforts to ensure democratic participation!

At the National Wildlife Federation, we know that conservation and democracy go hand in hand. From safeguarding clean water and public lands to protecting threatened species, the decisions that shape our environment, communities, and everyday life are made by people who show up and participate in civic life.
Throughout 2024, we worked alongside communities, affiliates, and partners to share educational tools, resources, and knowledge that make it easier for people to engage in the democratic process and make their voices heard.
Our new Civic Engagement Report 2024: Highlights and Impact shares how we:
- Launched NWF.org/Democracy, a central hub for nonpartisan voter education and conservation-linked civic resources.
- Partnered with Vote.org to embed trusted voter registration and ballot tools, helping hundreds of people register, check their status, and request ballots.
- Released a Civic Engagement Toolkit for nonprofits, coalitions, and community leaders—shared by nearly 200 users and generating over 20,000 impressions.
- Reached youth and underrepresented voters through text campaigns, mail programs, and affiliate-led outreach that created 144 new registered voters in key states.
- Supported affiliates nationwide on grassroots trainings, and regional campaigns connecting conservation to broad civic participation.
As voting season ramps up again in 2025, this work continues to matter more than ever. Communities hold the power to shape the future of our environment, our economy, and our democracy. By working together, sharing resources, and uplifting local leadership, we can ensure that every voice is heard and every vote counts—for people, wildlife, and the planet we share.
