Ranger Rick’s Backyard Safari Opening At the Tennessee Aquarium
May 6, 2011 – After more than four decades of inspiring a love of wildlife and nature in children, the iconic Ranger Rick will jump off the pages of the beloved National Wildlife Federation magazine and into an experiential exhibit at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN. Ranger Rick’s Backyard Safari® will use live animal experiences to help families tune into, and appreciate, nature from their own backyard to the backyards of creatures from around the world.
Has Oil Fouled Up the Gulf’s Filtering System?
May 3, 2011 – Researchers at Florida State University are leading a study to examine the effects of the Gulf oil disaster on shallow water coral- and sponge-dominated reefs. Their work is part of a more extensive Florida State University-developed rapid response study entitled “Impact of Crude Oil on Coastal and Ocean Environments of the West Florida Shelf and Big Bend Region from the Shoreline to the Continental Shelf Edge” that involves 14 scientists.
