Also known as the “American strawberry bush”, “hearts-a-burstin'” and “bursting heart”, Euonymus americanus is a deciduous shrub that gets its common names from the bright red fruit that split open in the fall to reveal orange seeds. Bursting heart is native to the United States and can be found from New York down the east coast to Florida and as far west as Texas.
