Forty years ago on the first Earth Day, I took a hundred college students to see Pennsylvania’s last nesting bald eagle at Conneaut Marsh. The eggs failed to hatch because of DDT. Today at the invitation of the President, I will attend a reception at the White House to celebrate Earth Day and what we can do when we work together to protect the earth.
