NWF Partners with Dream in Green to Present at the 2023 Green Schools Conference

This February, National Wildlife Federation and Dream in Green will be presenting at the annual Green Schools Conference February 27-March 1, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Green Schools Conference (GSC) is an annual event that brings together all the players involved in making green schools a reality: people who lead, operate, build, and teach in schools. The conference is a great opportunity for attendees to learn, connect with others in the field, and be inspired by stories from across the country. This year the program will be addressing topics from environmental impact, health and wellbeing, sustainability literacy, equity, and whole school sustainability.

For the past five years, NWF has been working in partnership with the Miami-Dade School District in Miami, Florida as a partner in their STEAM certification program through our Eco-Schools USA program. A strong component of this work is making connections to community and collaborating with formal and informal education partners to build capacity and reach a greater number of schools. One of our key partners in this work is Dream in Green, a South Florida nonprofit working to engage youth in climate and other environmental challenges.

On March 1st, NWF and Dream in Green will provide an interactive session titled, Green Schools Challenge: Increasing Environmental Literacy, that will focus on how environmental education can be diverse in scope and serve a number of community stakeholders. Participants will engage in concrete examples across grade levels and curriculum, define the benefits of partnerships around equity and sustainability, and learn more about how schools can engage in green school recognition programs that connect school and community needs.
