Ranger Rick Magazine Wins Education Publication Award

My parents have a stack of Ranger Rick magazines at their house from the late 1980s. When I trek home for Thanksgiving and other travel-infused holidays, I still peek at the vibrant covers, which frame images of the world’s wildlife.

No surprise that this enduring nature publication has won yet another award—K-5 periodical of the year! The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) honored National Wildlife Federation’s publications with a total of eight awards this year, for design, stories and articles.

Ranger Rick, published for ages 7-12 since January 1967, was also a top four finalist for the Golden Lamp award—the gold-standard for educational periodicals of all age groups.

The AEP’s annual Distinguished Achievement Awards recognize the year’s top educational products in four categories: Curriculum, Periodicals, Professional Development, and Technology & New Media.

Ranger Rick and National Wildlife Federation’s two other children’s publications, Your Big Backyard (ages 4-7) and Wild Animal Baby (ages 2-4), took home honors for outstanding content, design, photography and art.
